Carolinian Canada
Day, May 31st, 2002
Friday, May 31st, 2002 was Carolinian Canada
Day at the Federation of Ontario Naturalists annual
conference in Port Rowan. Expert speakers explored the
conservation policy tools and means for achieving a substantial
increase in the size and quality of natural areas in Carolinian
Canada. The Carolinian Canada Big
Picture natural heritage system analysis was the focus of
efforts to conserve and restore habitats.
Practical
Options For The Greening of Carolinian Canada prepared by
noted conservation author Ron Reid in collaboration with the
Management Committee of Carolinian Canada was prepared for the
conference. The paper looks at a variety of conservation tools
that might be used to advance the conservation and restoration of
the natural heritage system of Carolinian Canada. A summary of the
paper was distributed to all "Taking Flight"
participants at the FON Conference and the issues raised were
featured in the presentations throughout Carolinian Canada Day.
