Centre For Land and Water Stewardship CLAWS has been a leader in stewardship and land trust issues for many years. CLAWS has developed the landowner contact methodology used in Carolinian Canada as well as several of our publications.

Conservation Authorities community-based environmental organizations dedicated to conserving, restoring, developing and managing natural resources on a watershed basis. A watershed is a natural unit of land defined by the area that drains into a river and its tributaries. Watershed management, in its simplest terms, means managing wisely upstream so that downstream remains natural and healthy. All of Ontario's Conservation Authorities are members of Conservation Ontario

Environmental Farm Plan Program Since 1992, over 7,500 Ontario farm families have completed an Environmental Farm Plan (EFP). The voluntary EFP process was designed by the Ontario farm community, to help farmers self-assess areas of potential environmental risk on their farm, and set practical goals for risk reduction. ."Our Farm Environmental Agenda" was released by the Ontario Farm Environmental Coalition in January of 1992. Federation of Ontario Naturalists The FON is a leading voice on the issue of conservation in Ontario, promoting the preservation of wetland habitats, the creation and management of parks, protection for Ontario's threatened species and responsible forest management. The organization publishes the award-winning Seasons magazine as well as a range of educational resources and naturalist guides. We also run a wide-ranging program of trips, tours and summer camps, some of which visit the FON's own extensive system of nature reserves.

Prairie in Ontario Tall Grass Prairie is not limited to the western Provinces in Canada and the American Midwest. Patches of prairie can be found in southern and northwestern Ontario. These relatively isolated pockets of grassland communities are severely threatened, and extremely valuable provincially. It has been estimated Prairie now exists in a fraction of one percent(0.5) of the area it used to occupy. Prairie represents a very tiny ecosystem in Ontario, but it supports approximately twenty percent of Ontario's provincially and nationally rare species
