Notes from "A Concert For Carolinian Canada"

World-folk songwriter/ecologist Jarmo Jalava appeared with international musical guests at Aeolian Hall in London on October 11 in support of CCC

On October 11, CCC supporters and music fans were treated to a great show, all in support of Carolinian Canada's conservation programs. The night kicked off with a set of original songs by Dorchester-based artist Brent Jones. Jones took to the stage on solo piano, but later invited Charly Pena to the stage for a couple of songs.

Jones was followed by Jarmo Jalava & His North American Fair Trade Ensemble, with Jarmo on lead vocals and guitar. His all-star ensemble was backed by drums, standing bass, harmonica, saxophone, African drums, and additional vocals by Allison Wearing. The encore saw Brent Jones return to the stage for one final number, and the lights went down to enthusiastic applause.

At the intermission, Sandy Clipsham of Carolinian Canada spoke about the evening's charitable benefit. He highlighted how anyone interested in conservation action can become a member or Friend of Carolinian Canada, or sign up for the monthly CCC Eco News directly to their email inbox.

Though final numbers are not yet in, the show was a success in raising awareness and drawing new members for Carolinian Canada Coalition. Special thanks go out to Jarmo and his fellow musicians, the staff at Aeolian Hall, and Transition London Ontario for all the work they put into this wonderful event.

This event raised money in support of Carolinian Canada Coalition and build awareness of the global Transition Town movement. To hear a sample of the new release "Transition Town" visit www.jarmojalava.com
